John Quaranta Ph.D.

Dr. John Quaranta teaches and performs research in the areas of geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at West Virginia University. His research focuses on improving dam safety and identifying risk reduction options based on consequences of failure scenarios and has on-going research with the Geological Survey, Department of Interior, and the Army Corps of Engineers. Dr. Quaranta served as a technical expert for the West Virginia State Legislature for evaluation of shale gas hydro-fracture liquid containment impoundments used in West Virginia.
